Culture and Identity
Selected papers from the Development online archive
In 2009, Volume 52 of Development is devoted to 'Culture and Identity'. The four issues focus on 'Sexuality and Development', 'Power, Movements and Change', 'Beyond Markets', and 'Xenophobia, Culture and Identity'.
To accompany the Volume, a selection of leading papers has been made freely available from past issues of Development. The authors, from the UK, Colombia, Uganda, Mexico, Northern Ireland and Australia, offer their views and perceptions on the role that culture and identity plays in different contexts, whether it is by helping to solve conflict in Northern Ireland, affirming rights of Mexican indigenous women or building a common identity for women living under Muslim law.
